Invasive Species Week 27 Mar – 2 Apr

Invasive Species Week 27 Mar – 2 Apr

Surrounded by aliens!

Next week brings us Invasive Species Week. In it’s third year running, this special week is dedicated to raising awareness of the various invasive non-native species that affect our British ecosystems, and encouraging everyone to #GetINNSvolved with helping to reduce these effects.

Do you know your Himalayan Balsam from your Japanese Knotweed? How about your alien Giant Hogweed from native Common Hogweed?

For those wanting to learn a little more, free online training is available here:

River Stewardship Company hold weekly volunteer sessions along waterways in South Yorkshire and beyond! If you’re interested in getting involved on a more practical level, activities like balsam bashing are a great way of encouraging biodiversity and in the upcoming months!
