Jonathan Moxon opened the afternoon’s proceedings with a presentation on the Environment Agency’s comprehensive River Works programme, which has seen major works undertaken on Sheffield’s waterways to reduce future flood risk.
Helen Batt from the River Stewardship Company introduced the Riverlution concept, explaining how input is needed from individuals, organisations and businesses to successfully maintain Sheffield’s waterways long term.
Point Blank Theatre, who own the Riverside pub, ran an engaging outdoor session to generate ideas for improvements to the waterways. The Riverside pub overlooks the River Don, and Point Blank are keen to make more of their enviable location by creating an outdoor performance space in the river channel.
Attendees were then given an opportunity to take the floor, with a host of quick fire introductory presentations, each lasting one minute. More than twenty people took up the chance to speak, and all were invited to use the networking opportunity to find out more about each other’s work.
After the opportunity for networking and ideas generation, customers enjoyed the special menu of sustainably sourced fish dishes the pub’s chef had created, while Riverside regulars Opus Acoustics provided the evening’s entertainment.
