New River Steward Shaun Walsh impressed us during his six month stint through the government's back to work scheme Future Jobs Fund.

The RSC team is expanding!

Shaun's skills and experience will support the training and development of our new volunteer River Stewards, who are with us on nine-month training placements. Our four new volunteers are all keen to add to their experience to improve their future employment prospects within the conservation sector, and specifically within wetland and river management.

The dreaded Japanese Knotweed

Thursday, 1st September 2011

The time of year for tackling the dreaded Japanese Knotweed is upon us.

The dreaded Japanese Knotweed

Stem injection is the most effective method to ensure permanent removal, and the RSC team are licensed and ready for battle!

The injection method can be accurately targeted, unlike spraying which can contaminate desirable species in environmentally sensitive habitats. The injection method is efficient, with approximately 90% of Japanese Knotweed killed on the first application. The remaining plants are eradicated with a second application one year later.

Spraying requires 3-4 applications per year over a 3 year period to achieve similar results.

Call the RSC on 0114 263 6420 and book our experts to get your problem Japanese Knotweed under control.
