Site Supervisor Role

River Stewardship Company is looking for a proactive SiteSupervisor to take ownership of day-to-day site activity and help deliverhigh-quality environmental works across Sheffield and beyond.

Role Overview

The Site Supervisor is responsible for carrying out sitebased operational tasks safely, efficiently, and to the required qualitystandards. The role supports day to day site activities, ensuring work iscompleted in line with health & safety requirements, project specifications,and organisational procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

SiteOperations

·      Supervise and deliver site operations, completing tasks as trained and as directed by the Project Manager(PM).

·      Allocate daily tasks to the site team and supervise delivery to agreed standards.

·      Support the set‑up, operation and dismantling of equipment and materials.

·      Oversee specialist operatives and contractors, as required.

·      Maintain site cleanliness,welfare and housekeeping standards.

·      Undertake manual handling tasks safely and appropriately.

·      Complete and check all required site paperwork, including ensuring relevant forms are signed and submitted.

·      Brief the team on the daily plan and project requirements, checking understanding where necessary.

·      Consult the Project Manager(PM) if any issues or concerns on site affect the work in hand.

·      Provide updates (including photographs where required) to the PM, in line with Company standards.

·       Other tasks suitable for the role may be required.

Health& Safety

·      Conduct dynamic risk assessments recording any changes made to safe way of working, ensuring all site staff and PM are briefed accordingly.

·      Monitor health & safety and safe working practices throughout the delivery of the work, taking promp action to address issues or concerns.

·      Ensure compliance with all relevant health & safety legislation, Company policies, method statements, risk assessments, and site rules.

·      Lead and participate in toolbox talks, site briefings, safety inductions, and health & safety communications, checking understanding where necessary.

·      Use PPE correctly and ensure the site team do the same, maintaining standards of conduct and appearance appropriate to the working environment.

·      Consult with the Operations Lead and/or the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) Manager for advice and guidance on health & safety matters.

·      Report hazards, near misses, incidents,and defects promptly, and ensure immediate actions are taken to make the site safe.

·      Following an incident, update the relevant risk assessments and paperwork, and brief the team and ProjectManager on any changes.

·      Escalate incidents that require stoppage of work, first aid/medical intervention and/or damage to Company, client or third‑party property to the Operations Lead and the SHEQ Manager without delay.

·      Where an incident impacts the ability to continue or complete the work, alert the PM and agree, document, andimplement next steps.

·      Take reasonable care of your own health and safety and that of others, cooperate with management on health & safety matters, and only use equipment where appropriately trained and/or supervised.

BusinessDevelopment

·      Assist Project Managers in scoping projects as and when requested.

·      Promote Company capabilities with clients.

·      Facilitate new opportunities,referring on to the PM.

Quality& Compliance

·      Ensure work is completed to required quality standards.

·      Comply with deadlines for Company actions and completing set training.

·      Take an active part in the promotion of quality and compliance, participate in reviews, and/or make suggestions for improvement of procedures.

Equipment,Materials & PPE

·      Use tools and equipment safely and only when trained/authorised.

·      Use tools and equipment that are fit for purpose and suitable for the task.

·      Carry out basic checks and maintenance of tools and equipment.

·      Store materials securely and correctly.

·      Look after personal protection equipment (PPE), following the correct care instructions.

External Relationships

·      Where required, engage professionally with key clients and stakeholders, including the Environment Agency, local authorities, landowners, and members of the public.

·      Treat all business and site information as confidential and do not disclose it without proper authorisation.

Additional Information 

·   This role involves working outdoors in varying weather conditions

·   Travel to different sites may be required with overnight stays

·   Call out for incident response may be required

·   Some overtime or weekend working may be necessary

·   Other tasks suitable to the role may be required

Person Specification

·      Experience leading a team on site and communicating clearly.

·      Comfortable working outdoors in all weathers and in a physical/manual handling environment.

·      Strong health & safety mindset and confidence working to specification, programme and quality standards.

·      Reliable, punctual and happy to both follow and give instructions.

·      Hold a full UK driving licence for at least 12 months, with no more than 5 penalty points, in line with fleet insurance requirements.

·      Willing to travel to other sites, including occasional overnight stays (and call out when required).
