Working Hours:             Part-time (16 - 22.5 hours/week)

Salary:                            £26,228 pro-rata

Pension scheme:          Employers contribution of 7% after 3months

Holiday allowance:       26 days holiday plus normal public holidays (pro-rata)

Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support the smooth and efficient operation of our Finance Department.

Working closely with the Senior Finance Officer, you will assist with a broad range of finance administration activities including purchase and sales ledger processing, invoicing, reconciliations, expenses, payroll administration and credit control. The role plays an important part in ensuring financial records are accurate, supporting documentation is maintained, and financial processes are carried out in accordance with company procedures.

The role supports both River Stewardship Company (RSC) and Riverlution CIC, our partner organisation delivering community and environmental impact projects across the region.

Below are a list of functions/duties with which the role will assist -

Key Responsibilities

The Finance Assistant will assist with:

·       Processing incoming post and helping manage shared email accounts

·       Processing client and supplier invoices within company financial systems, ensuring all relevant         approvals have been obtained

·       Processing staff and director expense claims

·       Assisting with credit control activities and chasing overdue payments

·       Raising purchase orders and work orders

·       Supporting payroll administration and maintaining accurate payroll records

·       Maintaining financial records, spreadsheets, filing systems, archives and document storage

·       Ensuring confidentiality, data protection compliance and secure handling of financial         information

·       Responding to finance-related telephone calls and email enquiries

·       Assisting with reception duties, including answering calls, welcoming visitors and handling                 deliveries when required

·       Supporting reconciliations and identifying discrepancies for escalation

·       Following company financial policies, procedures and audit requirements to help safeguard         company finances

·       Providing general administrative support to the Finance Department

 Other duties appropriate to the post may be required from time to time.

Person Specification

Essential:

·       GCSE Maths and English (equivalent or higher)

·       Interest in finance and accounting

·       Previous experience in a finance administration, accounts or similar role

·       Experience working in a busy office environment, liaising with multiple departments

·       Understanding of purchase ledger, sales ledger and basic account reconciliations

·       Numerate with excellent attention to detail and accuracy

·       Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.

·       Confident and professional manner

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills

·       Confident using Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with financial systems.

·       Abilityto identify discrepancies and escalate matters appropriately.

·       Abilityto follow established procedures and maintain clear audit trails.

·       Aproactive approach to problem solving

·       Commitment to confidentiality and compliance with financial procedures

Desirable

·       AAT Level 2 or practical experience

·       Experience using Xero or similar finance platform

·       Experience using SimPro or a similar job/project-management system

·       Experience in a project-based, contracting, environmental, engineering or field-services         organisation

·       Experience with customer billing, credit control
