INNS Surveying the River Tongue
We are currently working for Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) as part of the Natural Course EU Life Integrated Project, undertaking a full survey of all the main rivers and surrounding areas within the River Irwell catchment in Greater Manchester.
This has seen 3 teams working in the area (which covers around 436km in total linear length!) each week since mid-June surveying 3 main invasive species - Japanese Knotweed, Giant Hogweed and Himalayan Balsam. Our teams are surveying on foot, in the channel or via boat depending on the individual river and the local environment.
Here’s Riverlution Officer Chris and Mike from the GMCA out surveying the River Tongue in Bolton. You can also see just one of the many patches of Japanese Knotweed we found in Rochdale town centre during a survey of the River Roch!
