Kirkstall Forge - a new home for the RSC
The River Stewardship Company (RSC) are delighted to announce the opening of a new base at Kirkstall Forge, Leeds.
Our new home is a beautifully upcycled and freshly branded RSC cabin unit located on the Forging Futures campus, a pioneering new skills centre at Kirkstall Forge. The new riverside campus, which provides trade and professional apprenticeships and employability skills training courses, as well as site visits and work experience for students and local people, is a perfect backdrop to situate the important community-based work to be delivered here by our Riverlution team.
Lucinda Yeadon, Community Liaison Manager at CEG Greater Leeds and a RSC and Riverlution board member, played a key role in bringing together all the partners involved and orchestrating the like-minded vision for this new skills hub.
The unit itself was kindly donated to the RSC by the Kier Group, with thanks to Ewan Metcalf, MD I Consult Ltd and ICON Group, and reflects how the campus works together as a flagship site for investing in the training and development of people, from which the Riverlution team can contribute and increase our social value.
Brendon Wittram, Managing Director at RSC says:
Our new base at the Kirkstall Forge hub will help us to further establish the RSC in Leeds and continue our good work in the area. Being part of the Forging Futures family provides us with an invaluable support network and a unique riverside heritage location to inspire our creativity as the Riverlution team carry out our social impact work here in Leeds, starting with a new River Stewardship Skills Programme set to launch here on the River Aire catchment this Autumn.
